Funeral Rites Held Sunday for Judge Norfleet R. Sledge

Funeral services for Judge Norfleet R. Sledge, who died at Washington Thursday night, were held at Como, Mississippi last Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. T. N. Brincefield, rector of the Como church, assisted by the Rev. Seaman Rhea, Methodist pastor.

Accompanying the body from Washington were Senator Pat Harrison, Congressman Wall Doxey and Miss Sue Brannon, of Winona, an attorney in the Department of Justice at Washington. The latter was an escort to Mrs. Sledge, who had gone to Washington to be with her husband during his illness.

A large delegation from Como and Senatobia met the funeral party in Memphis and accompanied it to Como.

Pallbearers were: Active, Robert Orr, Fred Taylor, Howard Cash, Dr. Osborne Rogers, Raymond Swango, M. P. Short, Guy Wallace, Robert Lipscomb, Felton Buchanan, Stratton Farmer, Dave Pointer, Jr., and Steven Butler, Jr., all of Como.

Honorary: Lieut. Gov. J. B. Snider, Jackson; Senator Harrison, Congressman Doxey, John Kyle, James McClure, C. M. Swangro, S. B. Harris, Stanford Manning and Armstrong Cartel of Sardis; Hoyt Wooten, Memphis; Wilson Moore, Webb Hays, Henry Dean, E. E. Moore, Gene McCrary, H. T. Perkins, W. G. Cocke, C. O. Pate, H. L. Martin, Herbert Holmes, of Senatobia; Walter R. Hylander, W. C. Bailey Don Bartlett, W. S. Jackson, Dr. A. P. Alexander, Dr. B. H. Pasley of Como; Dr. G. H. Peeples Jackson, and Gerald C. Chatham, Hernando.

Burial was in Friendship Cemetery at Como.
