Clarence Strother Meek, 59, Smithfield, was found dead about 10a.m. Thursday. Deputy Coroner Ralph Willhite pronounced the death a suicide and blamed ill heath.
He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Mary Emily Price Meek; one son: Clarence Price Meek, Smithfield; four sisters: Mrs. Della Douglas, LaGrange, Mrs. Nannie Barker, San Antonio, TX, Mrs. Flora Scherbaur and Mrs. Don Caster, both of Dayton, OH; two brothers: Bryan Meek and George Meek, both of Smithfield.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the grave in the Smithfield Cemetery. Rev. George Perger, pastor of the Smithfield Methodist Church, officiated.
