Benjamin M. Lee, age 72, of Poughkeepsie NY, died Monday, December 12, 2016, at the River Valley Care Center, Poughkeepsie, NY.
Born on May 23, 1944, in Lagrange, GA, he was the son of Viola Lee.
While attending Savannah State College, Savannah, GA he was on the track team and a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity.
He served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the United States Army where he received the Bronze Star, along with many additional accommodations before being honorably discharged in 1972.
He was a Counselor at Middletown Psychiatric Center, Middletown, NY.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Lee Haughton of New Paltz, NY; two sons: Jeffrey B. Lee of New Paltz, NY and Robert A. and wife Laurie Lee of New Bedford, MA; his grandchildren include Richard, Dominique, Kimberly & Emilus Haughton all of New Paltz, NY; granddaughter, Mackenzie Lee of New Bedford, MA; and the Mother of his children, Pearl Lee of New Paltz, NY.
Relatives and friends may call Sunday, December 18, 2016, from 2pm to 3:30pm at Copeland Funeral Home, Inc., 162 South Putt Corners Road, New Paltz, NY. Funeral Services with military honors will begin at 3:30 pm with the Rev. Bette Sohm, officiating. Cremation took place at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
