Because of the economic times, Buddy went to work at a very young age. Between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, he worked various jobs in Franklin County, Tennessee and managed to get a job driving a truck with the State Highway Department at the age of 18. He also found a part-time job selling cars on Saturdays. He soon discovered that he should be selling cars full-time and left his employment with the state.
Buddy often said that he had a good fortune to have been in business for many years with people he considered his best friends. Off and on for over 50 years, Buddy was in the automobile business with Tom Grider. For more than 20 years, he was in the amusement and vending machine business with David Patrick, and the Murfreesboro Bowling Alley with Jim Patrick. For several years he owned an interest in a gun manufacturing business, and during the last few years of his life, he was in the door and windows business with his grandson.
From an early age, he had an interest and passion for politics, and the issues of the day were on his mind up to the time of his death.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, Tennessee, on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M.
