Mr. Alburn H. Burton, 78, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home after an extended illness. He was born May 26, 1928. in Forsyth County to Lee Roy and Gertrude Pegram Burton. Mr. Burton was retired from Piedmont and U.S. Airways after 41 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Dorothy. Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years on Christmas day, Peggy Dunlap Burton of the home; two sons, Alburn L. Burton and Danny R. Burton, both of Winston-Salem; four granddaughters, Misti Bennett, Ashley, Heather and Amanda Burton; stepgrandson, David Myers; three great-grandchildren, Kolby, Bryson and Savannah; three brothers, Junior, Wayne and Larry; a sister, Phyllis; and a very special friend, his dog, Buttons. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Forsyth Memorial Park with the Rev. Meghan McSwain officiating. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful people at Hospice for the excellent care they provided and the comfort they give.
