Jayne Elizabeth Orrell Ruffin Brown, formerly of Bartram Place in Winston-Salem, passed away very peacefully Wednesday, June 28, 2006, at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro. She was born in Kinston to Solomon Alexander Orrell Jr. and Edythe Love Dunn Orrell on March 10, 1938. Jayne graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School and the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She was the founder of Twin City Counseling Center in Winston-Salem. Jayne was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Order of Saint Luke. She is survived by a son, Robert Galloway Ruffin Jr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Ralph Messick; three grandchildren, Robert Galloway Ruffin III, Dabney Elizabeth Ruffin and Katie Brown Ruffin, all of Lexington, Va.; a niece, Amy Messick Paynter, and her husband, Robert Montgomery Paynter Jr.; and a nephew, Mark Edwin Messick, of Burbank, California. She was "Great-Aunt Jayne" to Hannah Elizabeth Paynter, Robert Montgomery Paynter III and John Edwin Paynter. She is also survived by loving cousins, aunts and uncles and a host of wonderful friends. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:30 p.m. today, June 30, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, with burial at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends before the service from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the Colhoun Room at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church Outreach Ministry, 520 Summit St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101. "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." - Philippians 4:13.
