Pelisek, Milton O. "Otis"

Milton O. "Otis" Pelisek, of New Berlin, WI passed away July 5, 2017.

Born April 10, 1934 to Frank J. Pelisek and Dorothy (Boettcher), Milton graduated from Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, WI and attended Manitowoc County Teachers College before serving two years in the US Army. He earned his BA from UW Oshkosh and then obtained a Master's degree in education from UW Milwaukee. A life-long member of the National Education Association, he became vice-president of the Wisconsin Education Association from 1969-70. He taught elementary school for many years in the Brookfield and New Berlin school districts. He also became the 7th district alderman for the city of New Berlin and held that office from 1976-83, becoming council president.

Loving husband and partner to Shirley (Hoverson) for forty years, who preceded him in death in 2000. Beloved father to Kristin of Milwaukee and Michael (Kimberly) Pelisek of Denton, TX. Devoted grandfather to Grace, Chessney and Harley Pelisek. Brother of Robert (Janice) Pelisek, of Lake-in-the-Hills, Ill and Frank Pelisek, of Two Rivers. Sister of Melanie (Richard) Anhalt, of Mishicot and Ann (Charlie) Wilsmann, of Mishicot. Special friend to Ruth Wilke.

Funny and charismatic, Milton had his own way of doing things. An innovative teacher who added the arts to his instruction methods, he was a favorite teacher and substitute teacher for many years at Dixon, Orchard Lane and New Berlin elementary schools. People were drawn to him for his quick sense of humor and interesting stories. Bearing a resemblance to a long-time Milwaukee area newscaster, he was often asked for autographs - ultimately signing with a flourish, after trying to explain. He loved to have fun and enjoyed simple pleasures: spending time with family, a Door County sunset and his favorite cabernet sauvignon. His advice: Things will work out. They always do.

Special thanks to his friends at the Quaker Steak and Lube where he often went to watch a game and have a few beers. Much gratitude to Horizon Hospice for their kindness and help - which allowed him to remain in the home he loved with his family and friends.

Private burial service July 15 at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc, WI.
