Ruth Ingeborg (Gerisch) Bush, 93, of Mansfield, passed away early Saturday morning, July 8, 2017, at Mansfield Memorial Homes. She was born February 13, 1924, in Cainsdorf Bei Zwickau, Saxony, Germany, to Rudi “Rudolf “and Olga (Hanel) Gerisch.
In 1929, at the age of 5, she immigrated from Germany to Mansfield, Ohio, through Ellis Island, New York harbor, with her 18 year old aunt, Irma Gerisch and joined her father and uncle. Her mother arrived later and the family was completed with the birth of her brother, Arthur, the first in their family to be born in Mansfield, Ohio. Learning English, beginning in first grade, Ruth graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ.
After World War II, Ruth married Gerald D. Bush and they raised one daughter, Mignon Marie, born in 1949. Mignon graduated from Ohio State University with the Class of 1971 with essential support from her mother. Ruth was employed for 34 years as a secretary with MacDonald and Company brokerage firm in downtown Mansfield.
Ruth is survived by her only child, Mignon (Donald) Davis of Laytonsville, MD; two grandchildren, Steven (Sanae) Davis of New York City, NY and Marisa (Steven) Lacinski of Hinckley, OH; and three great-grandchildren, Mason, Ava and Caden Lacinski. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arthur Gerisch; and friend and former husband, Gerald D. Bush.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors, 98 S. Diamond St., Mansfield followed immediately by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Mansfield Cemetery.
