He was the son of Michael A. and Philomena Mulvey.

He married Esther Seeber in 1925 in Frankfort, and they lived in Ilion for many years.
Besides his widow, he leaves a son, Robert I., of Ilion; a brother, Philip of Ilion, and two sisters, Mrs. John (Mary) Scanlon of Ilion and Mrs. Margaret Butler of Watertown.
