Sylvia Paulette Hatley Harris, 68 years of age, of Locust, entered into her Heavenly home on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.

Paulette was born November 10, 1948 in Stanly County, North Carolina to the late Paul Pearson Hatley and Eva Mae Tucker Hatley.
She was also preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth Hatley and Dewey Hatley.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Mission Baptist Church-Locust. The funeral service will follow in the church at 12:00 pm officiated by Rev. Jeremy Hyde . Burial will follow at the Ridgecrest Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Locust.

Paulette was the loving wife of husband, Edward Harris for 52 years. devoted mother and grandmother to daughter, Kimberly Hathcock of Locust, son, Todd Harris and wife Jennifer of Oakboro, grandson, Kevin Hathcock and wife Amanda of Salisbury, grandson, Kane Hathcock and wife Taylor of Albemarle, granddaughter, Tenley Harris of Oakboro, great grandson, Amos Hathcock of Salisbury. Paulette is also survived by one sister, Betty Jean Burleson of Albemarle and a number of nieces and nephews.


Paulette worked at the Tiny Tears Daycare and then when her first grandchild was born, she started watching and caring for kids in her home. There are numerous children that she has loved and cared for over the years. Paulette served as the President of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Ridgecrest Fire Department for a number of years. Paulette was a member of Mission Baptist Church in Locust.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County 700 West Roosevelt Blvd. Monroe NC 28110.
