Mr. Blaising graduated from Northside High School, Fort Wayne, in 1942 and served in the United States Army. He worked in nuclear fission and in radio and television. He worked for ITT Aerospace, in Fort Wayne for 35 years and later as an electrical engineer, retiring in 1984. He also operated a television repair business.
He was a member of Laud Christian Church, serving as a Bible study and Sunday school teacher, as a deacon and as an interim pastor. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association and American Legion Post 98, in Columbia City.
He was born April 9, 1923, in Fort Wayne to Stephen T. and Woodie Norris Blaising. He married Irene Riddle in 1945, and she preceded him in death. He married Betty Jane “BJ” Strutz on Feb. 28, 2001, and she also preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Chris (Lynda) Blaising, of Columbia City; daughter, Stephanie Blaising, of Pompano Beach, FL; two half-brothers, Bill (Bonnie) Blaising and Charles (Annette) best, both of Zanesville; a half-sister, Katie (Russ) Nichols, of North Manchester; and two grandchildren, Ryne Blaising and Jenna (Ben) Blaising Pearce.
Calling is Wednesday, July 12, 2017, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. A service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 10 a.m., with Rev. Art Herrick and Rev. James Clifford officiating. Entombment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens.
