Mrs. Whitmer was born September 13, 1939, in Shenandoah County, and was the daughter of the late, Iva Dellinger Tusing and Robert F. Dellinger. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Larry Mowbray, two sisters and four brothers.
Fay was a member of Mt. Olive Brethren Church. She was a supervisor at Elkton Garment for 36 years up until they closed their doors, and then went on to work for Shenandoah Wrangler. She enjoyed making all kinds of cookies and candies, but especially loved cooking for family.
On July 6, 1955, she married Frank W. Whitmer, Jr., who survives. She is also survived by her three children, Donna Shifflett and husband, Gary, Frank W. Whitmer III and wife, Patty and Beth Mowbray and companion, Mike Powell; six siblings, Phyllis Halterman, Luella See, Christine Taylor, David Dellinger, Junior Dellinger and Donnie Dellinger; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and her fur baby, Teddy the Cocker Spaniel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg, with Pastor Fred Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
