Robert L. Winchester, age 72, of Olney, died at 12:38 a.m. at St. Mary's Hospital, Evansville, IN.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Olney, with Rev. Gary Rydan officiating. Burial was in the Clay City Cemetery, rural Clay City. Banson-Grove Funeral Home in Olney was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital, or the Trinity Lutheran church in Olney.

Mr. Winchester was born September 10, 1924 in Granby, MO., the son of Robert W. and Alma Naomi (Chandler) Winchester. He married Mary Elizabeth Schahrer on November 28, 1981 in Olney.

Mr. Winchester was a civil Engineer for Dowell for 19 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Olney. He was also a member of the Illinois Aircraft Association, the National Rifle Association. He was a Brother of the Ainad Shrine Temple of East St. Louis, and a World War II Navy Veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Beth Winchester, Olney; four sons, Mickey Winchester, Hobbs, NM., Kenneth Winchester, Edwardsville, IL., David and James Winchester, both of Brighton, CO.; five daughters, Linda Molnar, St. Paul, MN., Betty Richardson, Noble, Patricia Winchester, Tampa, FL., Kathy Ault, Newark, Ohio, and Judith Winchester, Los Angeles, CA.; one step-son, Roger Boatman, Ft. Wayne, IN.; one step-daughter, Nancy Montagnoli, Denver, CO.; 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Winchester was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Bill and one grandson, Seth Patridge.
