"Francis Honoré, son of Jean Antoine Honoré, was born at Baltimore, MD in 1792, and came to Louisville, KY with his parents when fourteen years old. He became of the city's influential citizens, devoting himself, however, to the life of a country gentleman, owning and operating a large plantation in the vicinity of Louisville. He married Matilda Lockwood, a daughter of Capt. Benjamin Lockwood of the United States Army. Mrs. Honoré was a lady of charming personality and admirable traits of character, and her influence was marked in the lives of her children."

In this connection it may be of interest to note the fact that Mrs. Honoré's mother, after the death of Capt. Lockwood, became the wife of John Cleves Symes, also a Captain in the United States Army, and a man widely known for his scientific attainments."
