Ed was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sibley, IA. He was an ordained Elder and Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Club sponsor, Church Treasurer and Building Fund Treasurer. He also served on the Planning, Budget & Evaluation Committee, General Council, and Committee of Ministry of Prospect Hill Presbytery. He was a member of the American Legion Post #524, Osceola County Historical Society, served on the Board of Directors of the Osceola Community Hospital and was a member and past president of the Sibley Rotary Club. He was a member and held offices in The National Association of Postmasters and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Organization.
He is survived by son, Duane and his wife, Juanita of Huntsville, AL; daughter, Paulette and her husband Lorry Massa of St. Paul, MN; six grandchildren, Duey, Colette, Janina, Joe, Nicole and Nate; 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Ardis Scholten and her husband Wally of Sibley, IA and Marlys Polzine and her husband Glenn of Forest Lake, MN; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian.
