Esther graduated from Nortonville High School in 1943 and moved to Topeka where she had resided since. Esther was employed by the City of Topeka for 28 years before retiring in 1991. She was a member of Countryside Christian Church.
Esther married Bruce Grout on June 20, 1948 in Nortonville. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2014.
Survivors include one son, Brent (Cheri) Grout, three grandsons, Brad, Jeremiah and Zach, and her six siblings, Barbara Tosh, JoAnn Mitchell, Paul Martin, Mary Romine and Lloydene Martin, and Charlene Schell.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Countryside Christian Church. Private committal services will take place in Rochester Cemetery. Esther will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel, 245 NW Independence Ave.
