Gene Douglas Cook was born in Vinita, Oklahoma on March 10, 1940 and passed away on July 8, 2017, in Plano, Texas.

Gene lived in Independence and graduated from Independence High School.

Gene is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hare Cook; parents, Lloyd Eugene and Velma Cora Louise Lester Cook.

Gene married Betty Ann Hare of Elk City on March 8, 1960 in Emporia Kansas. Whom he met at Seawrights Cafe in Independence where they worked at the time. He was attending Emporia State College when they were married.

Gene and Betty lived in Independence when they were first married, then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico then to Dallas, Texas in 1968 and remained there. Gene retired from the city of Dallas, after retirement he worked for American Eagle.as a Flight Attendant. After retiring from American eagle, he volunteered at DFW as an Ambassador. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend to everyone.

He leaves in his memory sisters, Carolyn Coukos and Annabelle Hiegel to cherish his memory. Gene is also survived by aunts, Betty Gordon and Glady Redman; children, Allan Cook, Alyson Hoyle, Tim Cook, Stephanie Hull and Julie McKelvin; niece, Pamela Coukos; nephew, Stephen Coukos and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home.

Service for Gene will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
