Tom married Catherine Shanahan on August 4, 1913 in St. Patrick's Church in Omaha, Nebraska. It was a double wedding with Catherine's niece, Mary Philomena Shanahan Dunavan.
Tom died on April 11, 1919 at the Shanahan home on 1412 Martha Street in Omaha, Nebraska where he lived during the marriage to Catherine. He is buried at St. Mary's Cemetery in Omaha. The cemetery states he was buried with the Daniel Shanahan family plot but doesn't give death information. His paperwork is filed with his parents (Thomas and Mary Cramer Kelly) family plot in Holy Sepelchre Cemetery in Omaha. The cemetery records state that he died of "pcsea."
OBITUARY: True Voice Newspaper in Omaha, Neb. (4-18-1919, page 5) Mr. Thomas J. Kelly died last Friday afternoon at his home, 1412 Martha Street. He was a resident of Omaha for thirty years and two years ago suffered a paralytic stroke which left him unable to work. Friday he suffered a second stroke and this was the immediate cause of his death. Those surviving are his widow, his mother and one brother, Joseph. St. Patrick's church was crowded Sunday afternoon at the services for the deceased. Interment was in St. Mary's cemetery.
