Mr. Smith was the son of the "late Christopher Jeremiah and Iva Tucker Smith. He has lived in Rutherford County since 1967. He was a retired farmer and member of 1st Free Methodist Church in Smyrna. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lula May Phelps, and his second wife, Virginia Lee Smith, son, David Owen, daughter Jewell Dean, sisters, Maxine Smith, Fannie Mae Irwin, Alene Wheatley, Lucinda Turcott, and brothers, Edward Smith and Glenn Smith."
