Mary Elizabeth Soucie Swenson

May 12, 1937 - June 26, 2017

Salem - Mary went home to be with her precious Lord on June 26, 2017. She was born in Buffalo, New York, to Edward and Molly Soucie and was the third of six children. She graduated from D'Youville College in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Mary was a nun for six years in New York before leaving the convent to move to Oregon.

Mary was the most amazing mother to her children, Molly and Mathew. They fondly remember special meals for birthdays and rainy days; racing lobsters on the kitchen floor before cooking them; her willingness to take them anywhere to do fun things; singing Happy Birthday to Jesus on Christmas morning; and hiding Easter baskets for them, even after they were grown. Mary always had a smile and hug ready for them and her kids were always confident in their mother's unconditional love. She will be so deeply missed by her children. They know that she is waiting for them in heaven with open arms and her beautiful smile.

Molly and Matt want to thank their mom's best friend, Sue Williams, for her amazing dedication and devotion to their mother in her final years. Her love and support to Mary was a true testament of a devoted friend.
