KEITH ALEXANDER PERKINS Keith, age 80, passed away peacefully June 22, 2017. He is survived by Marlene, his wife of 57 years, sons Chris (Laura) and Todd (Carol), and five wonderful grandsons, Jacob, Alex, Jason, Sam, and Zach all of Chico. He is survived by two brothers, Carroll and David, and predeceased by his brother, Fred. Keith was born May 12, 1937 to Fred and Margaret Perkins in Los Angeles, CA. He grew up in Monrovia and moved to Corcoran for high school. Keith attended San Jose State and graduated with a degree in Industrial Arts. During Keith's long career in education he taught in Arcata, Castro Valley, 15 years at Chico High, 2 years at Durham High, and overseas for 16 years in Japan, Kwajalein, and Saudi Arabia. Keith taught for over fifty years, teaching students from Pre-K through adults. He ended his teaching career at Nelson Avenue School. Keith was also an accomplished artist. His illustrations appeared in numerous travel books. Because of Keith's curiosity and their wanderlust, he and Marlene were fortunate to enjoy extensive travel while living overseas. Keith will be remembered by his family, friends, and students for his sense of humor, his numerous stories, and for being a caring, encouraging teacher and friend. A Celebration of Life is being planned.
