ALICE REBECCA ANNAN, 68, a retired Washington County school teacher, died at her home, 745 Guilford Ave, Sunday afternoon. She was the widow of James C Annan.

Mrs Annan was born near Williamsport, a daughter of the late James B and Lucretia Newcomer. She had lived her entire life in the Hagerstown area.

Mrs Annan was a member of the First Christian Church, and had taught various departments of the Sunday School, most recently in the Loyal Daughters Class.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs Janice S Floyd, Martinsburg, W Va; sisters, Mrs Ruth Elgin, Mrs Anna N Horst; brother, Arthur G Newcomer, all of Hagerstown; three grandsons and one nephew.

Services will be at Norment Funeral Home, Leitersburg Pike, at 2:30 pm, Wednesday with the Rev Wilbur S Hogevoll, the Rev Robert Regenold and the Rev Joseph Porterfield officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

A wedding of much prominence took place Wednesday when Miss Alice R Newcomer became the bride of James Cochran Annan. The wedding rituals were performed at the Presbyterian parsonage in Frederick. The ring ceremony was used.

Miss Newcomer is the attractive daughter of Mrs L P Newcomer, 1928 Virginia Ave. She is a graduate of Hagerstown High School, and Columbia University. Since graduation, she has taught school at Halfway. She has been quite popular among the younger set.

Mr Annan is the son of Mr and Mrs J C Annan, 532 Summit Ave. He is a graduate of the Thurmont High School, and Easton Business College, New York state. He is employed by the Cassco Ice Company of Hagerstown.
