Sally Lu Balkenbush, 80, of Choctaw, OK, was born on Aug. 2, 1936, in Seminole, OK., the daughter of Louis and Sallie Kane. Sally went to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 5, 2017, at home, surrounded by her family.
Sally graduated from Classen High School. She married Joe Balkenbush on Nov. 3, 1953, and they lived in the city of Warr Acres. They later moved to the Choctaw area and lived there for over thirty years. Sally worked as an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance Company and retired from that position in 2008.
She and Joe proudly raised six children. Sally was an active member of the St. Teresa Catholic Church in Harrah. Her life centered on Joe, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim; granddaughter, Kim; and grandson, James Paul.
Survivors include her husband, her two sons and daughter-in-law, three daughters and son-in-law, her 19 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 6 p.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church in Harrah. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 10 a.m. at the St. Teresa Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery.
