Mrs. Leggitt married James Leggitt on July 11, 1942. They raised 6 children: Russell (Deceased), Linda (Deceased), Brand, Lanitia, and Ronnie, all of Oxford, MS; Wesley of Plymouth, Minnesota. Together, they also raised their granddaughter, Cindy, of Blue Springs, MS.
Mrs. Leggitt helped on the family farm driving the tractor, trucks, and brought lunch to many Hayfields.
After the children were grown, she became a "Pink Lady" at the hospital for 9 years, while sewing for the public during this time.
At 60 years, young, Mrs. Leggitt became a foster grandparent at the North Mississippi Regional Center where she cared for one boy for over 23 years. She was awarded the "Ageless Hero Award" in 1999 for her work at the Ronald McDonald House and Children's Hospital in Jackson, MS. In 2004, she became a member of the R.S.V.P. Program.
Mrs. Leggitt was baptized into the Church of Christ at the age of 12, where she has been a faithful member since. She taught Sunday School for many years.
Kathryn loved working in her yard, garden, and flower beds. She is survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford. A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. also at Coleman Funeral Home. Interment will be at Oxford Memorial City Cemetery. Bro. Bill Russell and Bro. Luc Michaud will officiate.
