Allen Lafayette Bennett was born in 1845 in DeKalb Co TN, the 7th of 11 children born to Harrison Bennett and Sarah Hines Bennett. He married Georgia Alva Williams Jan 13 1870 in the home of G. W. Tyler in Randolph Co AR, officiated by John A. Roach, Minister of the Gospel. Together they had 7 children, three daughters and four sons.

In 1850 Allen is in Smith Co., TN with his parents and 8 of his siblings. In 1860 he is in Ripley Co., MO with his parents and 8 of his siblings. In 1870 Allen is in Randolph Co., AR with his new wife, Georgia Alva Williams. Allen is 24, a farmer, and his personal estate is valued at $135. In 1880 Georgia is in Eastland Co., TX with 4 of their children. She calls herself the head of the family and a widow, but 3 additional children are born after 1880. Where is Allen? I haven't been able to find out.

Allen came to Denton TX about 1876 with his sister, Elizabeth Frances and her husband William Henry Newland, and with their combined efforts started the A&L Ranch. The branding iron for their cattle is still in the possession of his grandson. He died from kidney disease, had neuralgia, and suffered from the loss of his right eye. As his health became worse, he was unable to continue with the work on the ranch. It was probably at this time that his brother, George Taylor Bennett came to Denton. The ranch was sold and Allen died in 1888, in either Faxon, Comanche Co. Indian Territory or Denton, Denton Co. TX - I haven't been able to find out for sure.
Allen was about 43 at the time of his death.

Allen Lafayette Bennett is my 2nd Great Grandfather.
