He is called William in some records, but his death certificate from Indiana gives his name as Wilford. In some records his father's middle name is given as R. Wilford's daughter Gladys Thompson Van Haelewyn gives Horatio's middle name as Dix, from his mother, Samantha Dix.

Wilford's obituary is found in the Rockford Register-Republic, Monday, 12 May 1947, p 17, col 3.

WILFRED THOMPSON

Masonic services were to be conducted this afternoon in Greenwood cemetery for Wilfred C. Thompson, about 80, a former Rockford grocer who died Saturday at Valparaiso, Ind. The Rev. William H. Fulton, pastor emeritus of First Presbyterian church, was to officiate.
Mr. Thompson lived in Rockford during the early 1920s and was associated with Charles Eddy, 1612 Camp avenue, at West State and Court streets for three years.
Later he was in the meat business with the Sarver firm across from the courthouse.
Mr. Thompson was a member of Rockford Masonic lodge, No. 160, and First Presbyterian church.
Survivors include two sisters, Miss Margee Dicks [sic-daughter], Nelson hotel, and Mrs. Grace Bruins [sic-Burns, niece], Valparaiso.
Rites were arranged at the Burpee-Wood funeral home, 420 North Main street.

The above article fails to give the correct information regarding his relatives who survived his death. The correct information is found in the Greenwood Cemetery Records. The Thompson/Beeman family is buried in Section 42, Lot 27 N 1/2. This lot was purchased by W. C. Thompson, Sept. 23, 1903 for $45.00. There is a note on the front of the card Thompson G. Dicks killed in France June 6, 1944. Marker in NW corner in memory. There is an address for a Gladys Van Haelewyn, Barn Elms, Millstone Rd. Wilton, Conn. on the front also.
