Benjamin Herbert "Ben" Coleman passed away 30 June 2017, at 10:52 PM, at his home in Denver, Colorado. Ben was born 10 October 1929, to George A Coleman and Veleta Elizabeth VanDeusen, in Denver, Colorado. To this family three sons were born, Lawrence William "Bill", George Alfred Jr and Ben. Both of Ben's brothers and parents preceded him in death. Ben's father was a house painter by trade, born in Rocky Ford, Colorado and spending most of his life in Denver. His mother, Veleta, was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and was described as the sweetest lady you would ever meet. Ben moved a lot when he was growing up and said one time his family moved while he was in school and he didn't know where. He had to wait on the front porch until someone came to get him.

Ben graduated from West High School in Denver, in 1947. There he was the senior class president and later married his cheerleader high school sweetheart, Loretta Irene Snow, on 30 January 1949. He served in the U. S. Navy, from September 1948 to April 1954, as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He served on the USS Badoeng Strait aircraft carrier. It was while serving in San Diego at the US Naval Training Center that he was baptized in 1948.

To this marriage, four children were born; one daughter and three sons. Pam (Sal) DiMarco) of Arvada, CO, Steve (Carol) of Arvada, CO, Craig (Cindy) Federal Heights, CO, and Wayne (Cathy) of Arvada, CO. This Coleman line has produced 10 grand children, twenty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

In the 1960's, Ben took up Square Dance calling. He followed in his brother Bill's footsteps as Bill began Square Dance calling in Tennessee and later in the Kansas City area. Ben was in high demand as one of the premier callers in Colorado. He and Irene made frequent trips throughout the U.S. calling Square Dances. He continued calling dances for twenty-five years.

Ben retired from the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph company with 30 years of employment. There was a brief interruption in that employment for Ben to serve his Country in the Navy.

In 1986, Ben divorced Irene and married Frances (Natividad) Lopez.
