Dr. Francis (Frank) A. Giglio was the first generation Sicilian-American born on December 29, 1928, in Beaumont, Texas to Charles S. Giglio and Antoinette Cuchia Giglio.
A product of the Catholic School system, he graduated from St. Anthony high school in 1946. He was a scholar and athlete in school and was a member of the St. Anthony baseball team which won the Beaumont City Baseball Championship in 1946, defeating all local public schools to take the trophy.
Frank attended the University of Texas-Austin and received his Bachelor of Arts in 1950. He met Marcia Frey while receiving his medical degree from the UTMB in Galveston. In 1955 he married Marcia in Galveston.
After receiving numerous degrees and certifications, Frank joined the US Army and completed Basic Training at Fort Sam Houston. He was stationed at Fort Sill Oklahoma in the Army Medical Corps. After his active service was completed, he remained in the US Army Reserves and moved back to Beaumont in the mid 60's.
Frank played a major role in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He would be instrumental in establishing the first Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth Hospital so that' premature babies had a better chance of survival. "Not to mention he brought me into this world". He gave me my first spanking when I came into this world. Some welcome huh?
When Operation Desert Shield started in 1990 he was called up for active duty and was stationed at Fort Hood during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After his successful in the Army, not only did he retire as a Lieutenant Colonel but he received the US Army Achievement Medal for Meritoriuos Service. He continued practicing until his retirement. He love to hunt and fish.
