Fred married Grace Lucille Smith on 9 Mar 1925 in the Central Christian Church, Huntington, Huntington County, Indiana.
Fred died as a result of his car colliding with another at the bottom of Sutton Hill at the edge of Huntington IN. It was thought that a small patch of ice made Fred's car slide into the car coming from the opposite direction. He never regained consciousness. He had a crushed forehead and cut throat. The other driver was released from the hospital approximately two hours after the accident.
Fred attended college at Angola, Indiana. He taught school and also attended Muncie College. He taught school at Batson Bridge southeast of Warren, Indiana and Irick School and Rock Creek Center both in Huntington County, Indiana.

Fred Beaty, 62, Teacher in This County, Killed
Fred E. Beaty, 62, of Huntington, a teacher at Petroleum in Wells County and a native of Liberty Twp., was fatally injured at 4:40 p.m. Friday in a head-on crash of two automobiles on U.S. 224 one mile southeast of Huntington. The accident occurred at the foot of what is known as Sutton's Hill.
Beaty died about 7:30 p.m. in the Huntington County Hospital, where he had been taken in critical condition with a fractured skull, head cuts an d a severe laceration of the throat, which included partial severance of the wind pipe.
Formerly a Grocer
At one time Beaty owned a grocery store in Huntington. His only son, James R. Beaty, resides at Markle.
Driver of the other vehicle, and also taken to the Huntington Hospital, was Thurber C. Mohr, 56, of 2317 Lynn Ave., Fort Wayne, an electrician engaged in construction work at the Huntington Hospital. He escaped with severe bruises o the forehead and cuts on his right hand and right leg.
Investigating officers, including State Police and the Huntington Sheriff's Department, reported that the westbound Beaty vehicle skidded out of control on a patch of ice, swerved into the eastbound lane and crashed headon into the Mohr automobile.
Trapped in Wreckage
The cars, locked together, were heavily damaged, and Beaty was trapped in the wreckage.
Beaty was a member of the Central Christian Church in Huntington.
Surviving other that the son at Markle are the widow, Grace; a daughter, Mrs. Donald Hower of Huntington Route 3; two grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Claude Mounsey of Louisville, Ky., wife of a former Wells County treasurer, and Mrs. Frank Warner of Huntington; two brothers, Everett R. Beaty of Huntington Route 7, and his twin, Ed W. Beaty of Huntington.
The body is at the Bailey Mortuary in Huntington.
Services will be held at the mortuary at 1:30 Monday afternoon, in charge of Rev. J. Maurice Thompson. Burial will be in the Star of Hope Cemetery near Huntington.
