Bruce Lamont George, son of Johnny and Agnes George, was born in Chester, PA on August 23, 1951. Bruce who was affectionately known as “Shoe” to his family and friends departed his life on June 26, 2017 at Crozer Chester Medical Center. Bruce enlisted in the armed services of the Air Force in January 1971 which he served 2 1/2 years before being honorably discharged in April 1973. After serving his country in the Vietnam War, he started working at the Ship Yard in 1978 where he stayed until the Ship Yard relocated. Later in life, he worked at Elwyn until a work related injury forced him to retire from the workforce.Bruce was a very sociable person and a survivor. He loved his family and children. He enjoyed hanging out with his friends at the 9th Street Deli. He didn’t let illness keep him down. Just when you thought he was out for the count, he’d be up, out and on the move. He was predeceased by his father Johnny George, his sister Mary George and grandson, Karonn Grant. Bruce leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Agnes George of Newark, Delaware; daughters, Latasha Grant, Aisha Grant and Erika Grant; son, Rashee Grant; sisters Vanessa (Donald) Evans-Simmons, Angela George; brothers Gregory (Darlene) Evans and John(Medrie) George; one uncle, Washington George; one aunt, Lucinda Salley, 7 grandchildren and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bruce will be sincerely missed.
