Death due to infirmities of age claimed Mrs. Emily Hogue, 91, one of the oldest residents of Tuscarawas county at her home in Oxford township, five miles east of Newcomerstown at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon.
The aged woman had been confined to her bed for the last eight months. For the past two years she was an invalid.
Mrs. Hogue was the daughter of the late Daniel H & Matilda (Cole) Meek, among the first settlers in the Newcomerstown vicinity.
Mrs. Hogue was born and reared on a farm near where she died. She was a lifelong Christian, having become affiliated with the M.E. Church in her childhood. For many years she was a staunch member of the People's M.E. Church of Oxford twp. She was married to Miller Hogue at the age of 17 years. He preceded her to the grave twelve years ago.
Mrs. Hogue was the aunt of J.F. Meek of Coshocton.
There are three sons living. They are: Virgil, Clarence and Ernest, all of the Newcomerstown vicinity. Eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the late residence Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Mr. Lockwood officiating. Burial will be made in the Newcomerstown Cemetery.
