Sandy passed away on June 6, 2017 at the age of 70. She is survived by her children, Leslie Combs (Asli Orhon) & Evan Combs (Susan); granddaughter, M Scarlett Combs; goddaughter, Angel Carr; and sister, Pam Boynes. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde R. and Violet Boose. Sandy was born August 31, 1946 in Lancaster, PA. After earning her BS from Juniata College, she served as Captain in the US Air Force. She was a proud Vietnam Veteran, awarded a Bronze Star, Commendation medal, et al. Following her service in USAF, she resided in York County, VA where she raised her children and completed her nursing degree (RN). She served as Chairman on the York County School Board and was active with the Republican party of Virginia. She was appointed Vice-Chairman to the Virginia Parole Board, and then to the Board of Visitors at Christopher Newport University. Sandy was an avid reader who kept up with current events; a true patriot, and a loving, caring person who was known for her good humor, passion for purple, appreciation for grammar, and love of frogs.
