Born in Yancey County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Willie Lee Styles and Bonnie McPeters Styles.
She graduated from East Yancey High School and moved to Henderson County over 45 years ago. Before retiring in 1998, she was employed for 32 years by Kimberly-Clark/Berkeley Mills. She was a member of the Balfour United Methodist Church. She was an avid bass fisherwoman and a master of numerous hobbies.
She is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Don Burnett of Hendersonville; her son, Donnie Burnett and wife, Lynn, and her daughter, Deanna Burnett Bradshaw and husband, Tracy, all of Hendersonville. She was the greatest Mammy to five grandchildren, Samantha Burnett, Tara Lee Burnett, Jeremiah Burnett, Caley Bradshaw, and Olivia Bradshaw. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Juanita Gillespie of Burnsville; Calvin Styles and wife, Barbara, of Tennessee; Mabel Wilson and husband, Franklin, of Burnsville; Rev. Denver Styles and wife, Elaine, of Burnsville; and Rev. Billy Dean Styles and wife, Gayle, of Marion; sister-in-law, Norma Burnett of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews; and many, many dear friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Balfour United Methodist Church. The Reverends Jim Prichard, Jr. and Phillip Cappell will officiate. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 10 AM to noon Saturday prior to the service at the church.
