"... who accompanied his son, Lovillo Guffin, in an auto to the State fair, and who was taken ill on the grounds and removed to the Yates hotel and later to the hospital, died at 3 p. m. on Tuesday. He was 77 years of age. His son, Dr. Guffin, of Central Bridge was summoned to Syracuse as soon as his father was taken ill, and last week reported that he was improving and expected to be able to return home with him in a few days, but his condition changed for the worse and he died on Tuesday as stated. Mr. Guffin will be greatly missed in the home, in the Reformed church, in which he took a deep interest, and by the community at large. He was a man of positive convictions, of strong friendships and one who commanded the highest respect of all who knew him. He is survived by two sons, Dr. and Lovillo Guffin, both of whom were with him at the time of his death. The remains were brought to Central Bridge on Wednesday, and the funeral, which will be private, will be held at his late home at 2 p. m. on Friday, Rev. E. O. Moffett officiating."
