Mary was born on May 25, 1931 to Gregorio Esparsen and Eloisa Parson Esparsen in Trujillo, New Mexico.
Mary was a waitress at the Inn of Las Vegas for 20 years.
Mary was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
Mary was the cool aunt to all her nieces and nephews.
Mary raised her two sons on her own.
A Catholic, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Eloisa Esparsen, husband, John Alvey Sr., brothers, Pat Esparsen and Gilbert Esparsen, sisters, Sofie Quintana and Carol Shaw, infant son and daughter, Pauline Alvey.
Mary is survived by her sons, Frank Alvey, John Alvey Jr., both of Las Vegas, NM, grandson raised as son, Shawn Alvey and his wife, Wanda of Rainsville, NM, grandchildren, Rebecca Duran, Garrett Alvey, Cole Alvey, Amanda Alvey, Frank Alvey Jr. and Mary Alvey, great-grandchildren, William, Jet Leah, Alex, Juanito, Jurnee Rose, Aaron, Timoteo, Beatrice, Hunter, Aden, Francisco, Mark and Tiffany, brother, Albert Esparsen and his wife, Carol of Santa Fe, NM, sister, Francis Lucero of Las Vegas, NM, sister-in-law, Placidad Esparsen of Minter, CO and Betty Esparsen of Portales, NM and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Rosary service will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Las Vegas, NM. Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, July 10, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. also at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father George V. Salazar as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with the following serving as Casket bearers, William Alvey, Shawn Alvey, Henry Lucero, Kenny Maestas, Fiño Maestas and Jet Leah Gallegos. Serving as Honorary bearers will be all of her grandchildren.
