SHERBURN — A Celebration of Life service for Willard Peters, 93, of rural Sherburn, will be at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Sherburn. Burial, with military honors by Thomas P. Saxton American Legion Post 356 and the Sherburn VFW Post 8261, will be in the Sherburn Cemetery.

Peters died Monday morning, July 3, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson. A Masonic service by the Chain of Lakes Lodge 64 of Fairmont, will be at the funeral home.


Willard Louis Peters was born Aug. 23, 1923, on the family farm in Jay Township, rural Sherburn, to Paul and Martha (Becker) Peters. He served in the U.S. Navy until his honorable discharge.

Survivors include: his wife, Jean Peters of rural Sherburn; daughters, Terrie Hlavac of Jackson, Nancy Smith of rural Sherburn, and Lori Peters of Sherburn; son, Douglas Peters of rural Sherburn; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Laurel Hughart of Canoga Park, Calif.; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Davis of Arizona, and Marilyn Greethurst of St. Paul.
