Roy W. Robbins, 86, of Cromwell, husband of Rachel Ann (Fish) Robbins, passed away on July 2, 2017 at home after a long illness. Born in Cromwell on March 28, 1931, he was the son of the late John and Amelia (Dreher) Robbins. Roy served in the United States Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Sergeant. He was an American Legion member, a past member of Sphinx Shriners in Newington and a life member and Past Commander of V.F.W Post #2138. Roy worked many years as a painting contractor and then nineteen years at UCONN Health Center as a maintenance supervisor, retiring in 1992. He enjoyed baseball especially the Red Sox, fishing and playing cards. Along with his beloved wife, Rachel, Roy leaves a daughter, Maureen R. Robbins; two sons, Roy M. Robbins and his wife, Nancy and Brent H. Robbins and his wife, Kimberly and six beloved grandchildren, Kristen Carducci, Brent M. Robbins, Kaleigh Robbins, Kelly Robbins, and Nicole and Michael Robbins. Services will be private for the immediate family. Roy will be laid to rest in the State Veterans Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded.
