Mrs. Cannon was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who gave generously of her time and talent to her church and area civic organizations. She was an Administrator of the Selective Service Board; an active leader in the Girl Scouts of America; President of the Prattville Service League; President of Askesis Study Club; and a Sunday School Teacher at First Baptist Church in Prattville. She also loved bridge and participated with her dearest friends in a number of bridge clubs over the years. She is survived by her beloved spouse of 64 years, Buford M. Cannon; one daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Tommy Newton, all of Prattville, AL; one son, Allen Cannon, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; three grandchildren, Robb (Kim) Newton, Montgomery, AL, George (Sybil) Newton, Birmingham, AL, and Sarah Newton (Zack) Barker, Birmingham, AL; five great-grandchildren. Will Newton, Adair Abbott, Richard Abbott, Ross Abbott, and William Abbott; one sister, Sue Allen Bush, Corpus Christi, TX, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
