HOLTON – Rita Jenkins, 85, of Holton, died Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the Holton Community Hospital.

She was born May 10, 1930 at Centralia, the daughter of Henry W. and Violet M. Houpt Jenkins. She graduated from Holton High School in 1948.

Rita worked for Dr. Kendall in Holton for 22 years, then served as Director of Jackson County Senior Citizens. She started the Senior Citizens Program in 1976 and retired October 1, 1998.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Alpha Circle, serving as leader. She was the Memorial Committee chairperson and a Trustee at the church. Rita also was a member of the Pilot Club of Holton and organized and started the first Brownie Troop in Holton.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bill Jenkins and two sisters,
Jo Alice Shea and Ila Rose Moser.

Survivors include one sister, Wanda Jenkins, Holton; a brother-in-law, Paul Moser, Holton; two nieces, Terri Moser Gallup and husband Andy, Owasso, OK, Barbara Shea, Holton; two nephews, Wayde Shea and wife Lisa, Ottawa, and Gregg Moser, Holton; and great nieces and nephews, Dustin Gallup, Caitlin Shea, Connor Shea, Claire Shea and Callie Shea.
