STEVEN R WHITING age 67 of Jefferson passed away unexpectedly at his home in Jefferson June 30, 2017. Steven was born in Cedar Rapids Iowa on July 26, 1949 to Robert and Helen (Bowersox) Whiting. He graduated from Racine Horlick High School in 1967. He then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War 1970-1972 aboard the USS Joseph Hughes. He is survived by his family; Brothers Scott (Maureen) Whiting of Kingwood TX, Thomas (Linda) Whiting of Lake Mills. Nieces and Nephews Bryan (Michelle) Whiting, Miranda Whiting, Nick (Tori) Whiting, Noah Whiting, one great niece Tegan Whiting.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday July 9, 2017 at the Schneider-Michaelis Funeral home in Jefferson. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday the 9th from 1:30-3:00 p.m. Burial with Military Honors will take place on Monday July 10, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Shueyville Cemetery in Shueyville, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorial may be directed to the family.
