Mary "Polly" Stepp was the daughter of Moses Stepp and reportedly Sally Jackson. On 30 Mar 1820, she married James Howard (1802-before 1870) in Kentucky. Together, they had at least nine children:

In 1850, James and Polly were recorded in Floyd County, KY. In 1870, Mary lived with her eldest daughter, Margaret, in Floyd County. In 1880, Mary lived in Martin County, Kentucky. No additional records have been located for her. So, she is estimated to have died after 1880.
