Charles Eugene Fritz

of Indianapolis, passed away July 2, 2017, at the age of 90. He was born August 15, 1926, one of three children of Eugene and Emma Fritz. He is survived by his wife Anita, son Frederick, daughter Susan Fritz-Kent, brother Harold, and grandchildren Elizabeth and Matthew. Charles and Anita were married for over 63 years.

Charles grew up in Indianapolis and graduated from Ben Davis High School. He was World War II veteran, who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific. He then received a BA from Butler Univ. and a JD from the IU School of Law.

He was a successful probate and tax attorney in Indianapolis for over 64 years, still practicing and going into the office 8:30 a.m. He was a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association and was admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court in 1984.

He was also President of Growers Automobile Insurance Association for over 37 years, having served years prior on the Association's Board of Directors. For many years, he was secretary of Grower's Finance Company, which managed the Indianapolis Farmer's Market.

He was a member of the Ovid Butler Society and served on the Butler Alumni Association board. He was an Indiana Freemason and member of the Scottish Rite. He was also a charter member of the Indianapolis Zoo. Prior to Cross & Crown Lutheran Church, Charles and Anita were active members of 3rd Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where he served many terms as president of the congregation.

Calling is July 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care, 8151 Allisonville Rd. Services are July 8 at Cross & Crown, 5233 E. 79th St., with calling at 10 a.m., service at 11 a.m., and entombment after at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, 9700 Allisonville Rd.
