Walter E. "Walt" Freeman, 89, of Trinity, FL and formerly of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Sat., July 1, 2017 at his home. A native of LaGrange, GA, he was born Aug. 10, 1927 to Arvin and Jenny Lee (Smith) Freeman, one of three children. Walter served his country proudly and honorably in the United States Navy during WWII and carried an electronics background from his studies at Georgia Tech into his career as a radio engineer and eventual manager with Voice of America, a career that spanned more than 30 years, with the majority of that time being spent overseas. Walt moved to Homosassa, FL in 1982 from Melrose, FL and then to Trinity, Florida with his beloved wife of 67 years, Catherine T. (Marino) Freeman, who survives him. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL.

In addition to his wife Catherine, Mr. Freeman is also survived by four children: William Freeman (wife Patty), San Clemente, CA; Walter Freeman, Jr., Denver, CO; Susan Champion (husband Phillip), Odessa, FL and Cathy Yosha (husband Victor), Denver, CO; sister Ann Stewart (husband John), LaGrange, GA; grandchildren Jason, Jeffrey, Cassie (husband Matthew), Hannah, Stefan, Nathan, Alexa and Andrew and great granddaughter Payton. In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Freeman and a brother, Edward Freeman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. from St. Scholastica Catholic Church, Lecanto, FL with Fr. Jojo Tejada, Celebrant. Military Honors and Catholic Rite of Committal will follow at 2:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, with United States Navy Military Honors Detail and Deacon Roland Desjardins officiating. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL.
