BROOKS, Eddie B., Sr.

peacefully departed this life on Saturday July 1, 2017 after an extended period of illness. Born December 2, 1928 to the late General and Rochell Brooks in Elba, Alabama, Eddie was one of nine children. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by three children; sons Johnny B. and Eddie Brooks, Jr. and daughter Sandra Brooks. Eddie B. Brooks, Sr. also known as Minister Eddie Brooks, worked a short while for Hardinge Brothers Mfg., but was a retiree of General Electric. He was a member of Faith Temple Community Church of God In Christ where he received his ministerial license under the leadership of the late Superintendent Leo Hughey, Jr. Minister Brooks enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Veronica Holmes Brooks; 14 children; 1 sister; 6 sisters in law; 4 brothers in law; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Family and friends are invited to visit Faith Temple Community Church of God In Christ, Harper & Sullivan Streets, Elmira on Friday, July 7th from 10 am to 12 noon. His funeral service will be held at 12 noon. Pastor Sam O. Pulliam will officiate. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Walter J. Kent Funeral Home is assisting the family.
