Robert L. Marquette, 68, of Camp Hill, died unexpectedly on July 2, 2017.
He was born Dec. 23, 1948, in Danville, a son of Robert C. and Betty (Tressler) Marquette.
Bob was a 1966 graduate of Trevorton High School, and a 1970 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he majored in business education. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Before joining Members 1st, he began his financial career as an auditor with the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and was also employed by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU), and Defense Activities Federal Credit Union (DAFCU).
Bob worked for Members 1st Federal Credit Union for more than 31 years, serving from 1986 until his passing. He headed the credit union's mortgage department, oversaw lending, and served as COO before becoming President/CEO in 1997. He lead Members 1st to become a premiere financial institution in south central Pennsylvania, giving in excess of 5,000 volunteer man hours and participating in more than 350 community and charitable events annually. But an even-more-lasting, philanthropic legacy is the way he has steered Members 1st at all levels toward community service that goes beyond monetary giving. Bob was a vocal advocate of credit union issues at the state and national level and was committed to preserving and defending the credit union movement for the benefit of all Americans.
Bob gained prominence in Central Pennsylvania as the star in Members 1st TV commercials, where he often appeared dressed in a red-and-white superhero costume.
Most recently, Bob served on the Board of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, the Board of the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Advisory Board for the Children's Miracle Network.

He lead Members 1st to become a premiere financial institution in south central Pennsylvania, giving in excess of 5,000 volunteer man hours and participating in more than 350 community and charitable events annually. But an even-more-lasting, philanthropic legacy is the way he has steered Members 1st at all levels toward community service that goes beyond monetary giving. Bob was a vocal advocate of credit union issues at the state and national level and was committed to preserving and defending the credit union movement for the benefit of all Americans.
Bob gained prominence in Central Pennsylvania as the star in Members 1st TV commercials, where he often appeared dressed in a red-and-white superhero costume.
Most recently, Bob served on the Board of the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, the Board of the Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Advisory Board for the Children's Miracle Network.
Bob had previously served on the Board of Directors of many local organizations, including: PA Credit Union Foundation, Allied Arts Fund, National Civil War Museum, CPARC, Capital Region Economic Development Corporation, Philadelphia Federal Reserve Bank Credit Union Council and nationally, the National Association of Federal Credit Unions.
Bob received many awards throughout his tenure at Members 1st, including: CEO of Year by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions, The Keystone Award by the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association and most recently the Credit Union of the Year Award and the White Hat Award at the National Association of Federal Credit Unions' Annual Convention in June.
Bob enjoyed travelling, good restaurants, golfing, the outdoors, and home improvement projects. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Camp near State College.
In addition to his parents, Bob and Betty, he is survived by two brothers and sister-in-law, Thomas "Toot" and Judy Marquette, of Hughesville, and John "Budda" Marquette, of Trevorton. "Uncle Bo" is also survived by his nieces and nephews, and their spouses and children, Shawnda Marquette, Taner and Summer; Cody and Jason Bottiger, Owen and Reese; Alyssa Marquette, Brooklynn, Ethan, and Dathan; Megan and Maxwell Shingara, Arabella, Emmalene, and Elias; Sean Harkins; John and Janine Marquette, Ian and Chelsea; Nicole and Justin Neri, Madden and Oliver; Ann and Doug Daniels, Ambree and Colt.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.I. and Mary Adelia Tressler, and Clarence and Margie Marquette; sister-in-law, Rita Marquette; and nephew, Stephen Harkins.
A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Zion Lutheran Church, 603 W. Market St., Trevorton, where a memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, with the Rev. Frederick Faust officiating
Bob was an ordinary man who did extraordinary things. Robert L. Marquette, 68, of Camp Hill, died unexpectedly on July 2, 2017. He was born Dec. 23, 1948, in Danville, a son of Robert C. and Betty (Tressler) Marquette. Bob was a 1966 graduate of Trevorton High School, and a 1970 graduate of Bloomsburg University, where he majored in business education. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Before joining Members 1st, he began his financial career as an auditor with the U.S. Government Accountability Office, and was also employed by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU), and Defense Activities Federal Credit Union (DAFCU). Bob worked for Members 1st Federal Credit Union for more than 31 years, serving from 1986 until his passing. He headed the credit union's mortgage department, oversaw lending, and served as COO before becoming President/CEO in 1997.
