Delta Resident, Elwood Archie Rogers away peacefully Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Montrose Memorial Hospital in Montrose, Colorado. He was 86 years old. Elwood Archie Rogers was born September 17, 1930 (Actual birth date was 1929) to Lester James and Florence Sarah (Payne) Rogers at home on Catamount Creek.
Elwood spent his childhood and attended school in Catamount Creek. On September 1, 1948 Elwood married the love of his life Rosemary Alice Clair on Teepee Creek. To this union seven children were born. The couple had the honor of sharing 57 years of love and marriage before Rosemary passed away on September 29, 2005.
Elwood was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed reloading, storytelling, and was a major joke teller. Elwood is survived by his two sons, Tommy (Lisa) Rogers and Robert (Lea Ann) Rogers both of Delta, CO; four daughters, Mary Tunget of Olathe, CO, Verla (William) Wilcox of Lakewood, CO, Sheila (Doug) Worton of New Castle, CO, and Melinda (Randy) Sagmoen of Fairplay, CO; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-three (29) great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. Elwood was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son Ronald Dean Rogers, a brother, a sister, and a granddaughter. Service Information A celebration of life will be held 2:00 pm, Monday, April 3, 2017 at Taylor Funeral Service chapel in Delta, Colorado.
