She was born May 22, 1932 in Sheldon, MO to Thomas M. and Iona Mae Lea Adkins Hanifan. She married Melvin E. Branson on August 13, 1949 in Emporia. He died on January 25, 2000 in Emporia. She later married Johnnie E. Thompson on December 13, 2003 in Wells, Kansas. He survives.
She is survived by her husband, Johnnie, Emporia; children, Daniel Branson of Emporia, KS; Twins – Vicki Ellis, Wichita, KS and Rick Branson, (wife, Khrista) of Ashland, KS; Grandchildren: Daniel Branson, Jr., Nicole Branson, Jake Branson, Talitha Ellis, Dwayne Ellis, Raelynne Ellis, Jesse Branson, and Jack Branson. And 14 Great-Grandchildren.
Billy Earned her BS in Psychology August 1979 and MS in Counseling Dec 1981. Certified in Clinical Hypnotherapy August 1982. Ordained Minister of Spiritualist Church on October 1, 2005. She retired from Counseling, using Hypnotherapy and Astrology in her practice.
She was a published Kansas Author of several poems and 3 books: “Mining The Silver Lining, Taking Triumph From Tragedy”, How Astrology Saved My Life, Learn My Simplified Method to Gain Health, Wealth and Understanding”, and “So You Want to Be Thin, Then Use F.A.T.”
Billy’s wishes were to donate her body to the will body program at the University of Kansas Medical Center. At this time there will be no services and no memorial fund established.
