Obituary for Riley Allan Garrett -
R.A. Garrett, 69, retired employee of the City of Ennis, died this morning at his home 300 Avenue C, after an extended illness.
Mr. Garrett was born in Scurry September 1, 1900, (the son of Jack and Vada Bullard Garrett). In 1902 he moved with his parents to Ennis where he was reared. He was married to Miss Mable Richardson on February 4, 1922, and they continued to live in Ennis. He was employed by the City of Ennis for twenty-two years before retiring in 1967. He was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church and the Woodmen of the World.
Surviving him are his wife, two sons, Floyd Garrett and Riley Allen Garrett, Jr., both of Ennis. five daughters, Mrs. Marvin Walker, Mrs. Lonnie Emerson, Mrs. Glenn Miller, all of Ennis, Mrs. Helen Monroe of Longview, and Mrs. Wayne Allison of Neosho, Missouri, sixteen grandchildren; two brothers, Luther Garrett of Houston and Arthur Garrett of Ennis and one sister, Mrs. Tommy Thomas of Ennis.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Keever Chapel with the Rev. Orbie Lamb and the Rev. Joe Hixon, officiating. Interment will be in Myrtle Cemetery.
