Korey Michael Smith, age 23, of Rocky Ridge, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 2, 2017 at his home. Born June 2, 1994 in Gettysburg, PA, he was the son of Michael Vincent Smith of Rocky Ridge and Tonya Kuykendall Albaugh of Keymar, and the stepson of David A. Albaugh of Keymar.
Korey attended Catoctin High School and enjoyed fishing, skateboarding, video games, spending time with his family and was a Washington Redskin fan.
In addition to his father, mother and stepfather, he is survived by a brother, Alexander V. Smith of Keymar; paternal grandparents, Ron and Connie Smith of Rocky Ridge; maternal grandmother, Tamera Kuykendall and maternal grandfather, Andy Mitchell, both of Emmitsburg; maternal great grandmother, Mary Jean Orndorff of Emmitsburg; numerous aunts and uncles including aunt, Patricia Smith and cousins, Randy, Carrie and Chelsea Gelwicks of Rocky Ridge. He will also be remembered by best friend, Katie Dyer and her son, Trenton of Thurmont.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro. Interment will follow in Rocky Hill Cemetery, near Woodsboro.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 7.
