Ted Lincoln Johnson, age 92 of Fremont, died Monday, July 3, 2017.  Ted was born on November 5, 1924 in Fremont to Earle Lloyd and Bessie (Clothier) Johnson and graduated from Fremont High School in 1942.  After graduation, Ted was drafted into the United States Army Air Corp where he served as a First Lieutenant bombardier/pilot in the 30th Bombardment Group on the B-24 Liberators in the Pacific Theater during World War II.  Following his discharge, Ted returned to Fremont and  on November 29, 1946, he married Nancy MacNaull Reber, whom he met in kindergarten.  Ted graduated from Michigan State University in 1948 and was the owner and President of Carajon Chemical Company, Norwood Looms Company, co-owner of the Meadows Nursing Center and was a board member of Dri-Slide Inc.
Ted was a dedicated volunteer in the Fremont area for many years. He served as a trustee and Chairman of the Board of the Fremont Area Community Foundation as well as Trustee and Chairman of the Council of Michigan Foundations.  He was a long time member of the Fremont Congregational Church, serving in many church related capacities including Moderator and Chairman of the West Michigan Council of Churches.  Active in the Boy Scouts of America, Ted received recognition on local, regional and national levels. He was honored with Scouting’s highest award, the Silver Buffalo, for his service while Chairman of the National Boy Scout Committee.  
In the City of Fremont, Ted was instrumental in establishing the Fremont Airport and served on the City of Fremont Planning Commission.  He also served on the Gerber Memorial Hospital Board, Old Kent Bank Board of Directors, and the Newaygo County Mental Health Board.  
In Tucson, Arizona, Ted was active with The Philip’s Fixers, a volunteer maintenance group for St. Philip’s in the Hills Episcopal Church, an historic church on the National Register of Historic Places.
Above all, Ted enjoyed spending time with his family, flying his Cessna airplane, boating, traveling, and special times at the river cabin with his friends.
Ted is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Nancy Reber Johnson; his children, David Earle Johnson, Peter Reber Johnson, Renee Fabry, and Marjorie Johnson Derks; his grandchildren, Isaac, (Marit) Johnson, Eliza Johnson, Samuel Derks, Hannah Derks (Travis) Webb; his great grandchildren, Brooks and Lane Johnson, and Norah Webb. He is also survived by his sister in-law, Marjorie Reber Salata and  numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Kingsley Johnson and his brother, Paul Clothier Johnson.
